RESPECT!

R.E.S.P.E.C.T - find out what it means to me...

Prime Minister Tony Blair launches the new "Respect" agenda, which includes punishment for "low level" but pernicious and unpleasant crimes and anti-social behaviour.

Some of the responsibility for enforcement will fall on local police forces, but other areas, such as visible nuisances (graffitti, litter, etc), diversionary activities for youth and children, truancy and attendance and educational attainment fall within local authority responsibility.

Blair insists that this is not a gimmick - so how will this effect local authorities? Is this more of what some councils are doing already?
